@ Changi airport now accompanying Jo as she works the graveyard shift! Just came from my dad's cellgroup christmas party. :] Christmas is really busy this year man.. lots of interesting experiences and stuff that make me reflect alot so here goes:
18 Dec: Chris' Bday party at Downtown East
Super crazy ppl! Haha.. very touched by their generosity man.. Chris, hope you're having a great time in Ipoh! :] Glad to know you guys man..
19 Dec: Dinner at my house
Invited Eileen, Sharon, Bel and Aileen over to have dinner! :] First time ever hosting something like that at my house can... with me cooking and planning everything i think in 2 days. Haha.. I'm glad for the time to talk and just really hang out, spending good quality time :] Not to mention root beer floats!! I no longer miss A&W from Batam man.. haha.. still have lots left, movie marathons anyone? :]
20 Dec: VJC Squash outing
Met up with VJC squash mates whom i've not met in like 2 years! haha.. but I love their openness man, catching up after 2 years was so easy and just thankful that they took the initiative to keep in touch. :] Went to Sculpture Square at Middle Rd to shop at this flea market with them, it was super fun and CHEAP!
21 Dec: Candlelight Svc + Dinner party + Stayover at Changi airport
Candlelight svc was great... :] Everytime the lights go out and the candles get lighted, I always feel so touched. Today as Pastor and the ushers went around lighting the candles, and watching everyone's candles slowly get lighted up really brought home the message about how 1 flame can touch thousands. 1 candle flame is so vulnerable and easily snuffed out - mine got snuffed out by the air-con, but aileen was there to light it again. And i just realised that yeah.. everyone's fire will get shaken and threatened, not only do we have to shield and guard it, but we can always rely on others beside us to light us again when we go out :]
At the dinner party, my dad's cellgroup members brought their families too. So got to talk to other ppl around my age, and it was good because getting to meet other people from other churches is also refreshing and I get touched and challenged by their beliefs as well :] There was this family with a child with cerebral palsy. The girl is only 7 years old, but she's so beautiful with such big eyes and dimples :] But it was more of seeing their faith - their cellgroup has been praying for her for a year and she improved alot in her muscle movement. Her parents' faith is so touching because they're the quiet sort, just quietly believing, loving and laying their lives down for their daughter. Seeing how everyone was so loving to her as well really made the night special. And as everyone shared about how good God was to them during the year, even though it was a bad year for many of them - financially, health-wise etc. - yet they ended the night believing and encouraging and continuing to give out of what they had. Made me really think hard on what values i've cherished and what i've given my mind over to keep fretting and thinking about. I guess we have many problems, and things over the past year like friendship problems...studies...finances...faith... in the end, the bottom-line is still that I still love my family and every single friend very dearly; i will still commit to studying hard with a better attitude every sem and continue working hard and trusting God for my finances. Like what Jo said, besides just giving to people, we need to also meet needs. And that'll be one of my new year resolutions! :]
