I really think that's true after hearing Pst Phil's podcasts. One thing I was reminded of from SOT was Pst Kong telling us how he would go back to listen to past sermons by his spiritual mentors like Dr. Cole, Dr. A.R Bernard etc. whenever he felt down or even when he was on the mountaintop. It was a habit to keep cultivating the seed that's already been sown by meditating on it, keeping it in sight.
You'll only realise the truth of your situation when you manage to step out of it and get a glimpse of something greater. Like how farmers can be satisfied with their lives but when they get a glimpse on TV of the prosperity of city-dwellers, dissatisfaction comes in. Dissatisfaction is good if it propels you into a positive direction.
So many nights I remember feeling so discouraged and weary that I'll bargain with God about my quiet time, ministry, relationships with friends etc. and one night a question just broke through those cycle of thoughts: Jeannette, when will you be dissatisfied with this? Like Pharoah who was content to spend 1 more night with the frogs, I realise that we can get comfortable with staying in the valleys, thinking we're just stopping to rest our feet or rest in God. But ending up resting for months and years.
It's back to what Pst talked about: Passivity vs Activity. Activity will only come with the revelation of what you have from God. We have whatever we need to overcome whatever we face because God is our creator, the LORD is our king and the Almighty is our great problem-solver.
Greater is He who is in YOU than he who is in the world. Meaning: We are already empowered, we have so much deposited in us that we are not utilising. So it's time to start praying stronger, lifting our hands higher, clapping harder, reading more, serving more, loving more, lingering longer... it's time to get in touch once more with the Source of life and fan our own flame! :]
