Pst Sy rocks! :] So inspired by him, from the outside, it's so obvious to see God's hand in his life. And what he said is totally true, we need to have memorial stones in our life to constantly remind ourselves of God's love and God's heart when we're in the valley and the darkness robs us of sight and we forget so easily all those moments on the mountaintops when God's love was so evident in our lives.
During Praise and Worship today, i got a revelation about what is the key factor to staying on the narrow path. I was thinking back of all the ppl i really admire, like Pst Kong, Bro. Bob, Pst Phil etc. How they can stay with God for so long even when as they breakthrough, trials and tribulations will just increase and they can still hang on, walk by faith and minister all week!! :P And i realised that that key factor was running TO God in the midst of trials instead of running AWAY from God.
It's vv natural for us to run away from Him. When we're feeling tired/dry, the first thoughts that jump into our heads are "i don't feel like going to church", "i don't feel like seeing my cg members", "i don't feel like going for cg", "i don't feel like praying", "i don't feel like reading the bible", "what would life be like without church?" etc. We don't even realise it or try to stop ourselves, we just go with the flow of our emotions.
Even though the pastors always say, God is your Father, no parent would want their children to run away from them and refuse their help when they're in trouble; and we KNOW that in our minds, but we don't go to Him when we're in the valley. I guess it's really human nature, like how Adam also hid from God. But i really wanna be like David and Joseph, who although sinned big time, still entered boldly into God's courts asking for mercy. It's not that they're thick-skinned, or that they know no shame, but more importantly, they understand God's character.
I think Pst Sy really captured the crux of the problem when he said that God's Character is always the thing on trial throughout our lives. Not only our identities, but the main thing is God's heart. Because He's invisible, it's so easy to doubt like Thomas. When the bible says, we are children of God and that He's looking over us, the hardest thing to do is to trust that what the bible says is true and that it's for us to apply to our lives.
The only thing we can really give God is not only our love or lives, but more importantly - Loyalty. Faith is trusting in God's Heart when life gives us the reason not to. That's why great ppl like Billy Graham, AR Bernard etc. fulfil their destinies in God. Are we so naive to think that we can ever be fulfilled without God? Or are we just in denial?
