Today, i decided to take some time and finish this last book that i recently bought in a bid to remove any distractions once i commence on this 'study break'.

I wish i could express myself as well as John Grogan in Marley & Me, to capture emotions and beliefs so succinctly in words. But i just want to say that this book is such a blessing. Even though it's just, briefly summarised - a true story about a guy and his dog - it was rich in spirit and truth. There was no pretense to make it more than it was, nor was there the downplaying of important moral lessons and of the richness of love in different life experiences. At the end of the day, the author managed to capture the essence of the truth that there are so many things we can learn from each other, or even things of seemingly inconsequential importance.

Despite everything, all the disappointments and unmet expectations, Marley had given us a gift, at once priceless and free. He taught us the art of unqualified love. How to give it, how to accept it. Where there is that, most of the other pieces fall into place.

That would be one of the greatest life lessons i need to have, and i realise i'm still in the middle of it, class hasn't ended just yet. All it takes is the humility to give what was given to you, realising that you didn't deserve it, just as the person you're giving it to probably doesn't deserve it from you. And the humility to accept it, knowing that you don't deserve it but that you want it and need it all the same.

My prayer is that as life unfolds, through any circumstances or people i meet and come to love, despite the hurts and disappointments, that I will have the wisdom to guard my heart - that it will remain soft and open to love others; because love bears all things, perseveres and always hopes. I want to be able to experience the richness of life and love without fear or the past infringing on the experience. Doubt is truly a luxury that one can't afford.

Alrightey, let the studying begin!
