was super funny! I really like Dr. Foo alot, he's the most interesting lecturer so far.
Dr Foo's quotes:
On the subject of men and women being the same physiologically actually:
"Actually men and women are the same physically. Women have penises, it's just that in the womb, it doesn't develop, so they have clitoris and the difference starts there. So women, don't be jealous of us men." LOL
On the subject of men having erectile dysfunction because of too high expectations:
"The problem with men nowadays is that they think that they are Superman when they are performing for their wives. But how we treat them is, we need to tell them that 'You are not Superman, you are just a MAN."
On the subject of eating bananas:
"Why do we eat bananas?" [Class: "potassium~~"]
"Yes, but too much potassium will make us have hypertension. And it'll make our heart beat so fast until it bursts. So? Don't eat like monkeys. Eat like Man!"
On the subject of memory in which he digresses to personality:
"What if right now, Prof Russell walks into class naked?" [Class gasping and laughing at the idea]
"How many of you will scream? How many of you will just *gasps and stares wide-eyed whilst biting nails* Even though your brain is telling you that you don't want to look, but something in you just wants to keep looking! Will you be able to remember what you saw?" [Class laughs]
"Right?" *He proceeds to open the lecture room door, peer around it and asks: "Prof, are you ready?"
*Turns to us: "He's just taking off the last piece of clothing." LOL
But one fact that i really find interesting is how he said that for ppl who would react to this situation by screaming, they are more language people. And ppl who keep quiet and just stare, are more emotional. And he said that emotional ppl tend to keep it all in, and try to cope with overwhelming stimuli whilst language ppl will just talk and curse and swear.
Super interesting. Of course, i think the cons about being a specialist in neuroscience is that neuroscentists always tend to believe that our biology creates our behaviour. Does the size of which side of my brain determine my personality? What if someone is emotional, but makes a choice to talk to people when they're in distress?
And he did give some life-saving advice :] - If touching or feeling hot things, use the back of your hand and not your palm because your natural reflex is to grab things (Like how babies grab fingers and not make 'twinkle-twinkle-star' motions). Hence if your body system is shocked, you'll end up grabbing the stimuli that caused the shock all the more tightly. Which can be fatal. He related a story of how his distant relative picked up a kettle in which there was a live wire in the handle. And he ended up being electrocuted to death, and they couldn't pry the kettle from his death grip no matter how hard they tried.
