Managed to do what I needed to do (study), what I wanted to do (sleep, pray, solitude) and what I like to do (fellowship + family time). That's alot of checks from my priority list and indeed life is easier when commitments and priorities are clearly laid out.
I like what Pst Phil's latest leadership files said about the past, present and future.
The past: We've got to resolve whatever we need to in order to move to the future or the future will be built on an unstable foundation.
The present: Priorities, beliefs, values and commitments need to be sorted out constantly. This is the foundation on which you dream, plan, visualize and set goals for your future.
Took some time to plan out stuff and reset my priorities. Read in a book somewhere, that one's life cannot lack a time for solitude, thinking and planning. That's probably part of living a disciplined life, which may seem restrictive at first, but is actually the door to wise living, simplicity and freedom to pursue what is important. Setting a strong foundation takes time but it's important so that one day when you're at the top of your career or family life, you won't have to constantly look back and fix the cracks and prevent your life from collapsing due to inadequate planning or character. I'll always remember Bobby teaching us this during bible study: foundation-building.
Foundations take time to build, and alot of time is spent building something that no one can see. So maybe your life isn't so happening now - career, studies, ministry, relationships are all not taking flight now. But this could be the time you need to spend focusing on building a foundation for the life you want in the future, don't miss the timing and the season by being distracted by something else, even if that's what the majority is doing. In the end, you can't take responsibility for anything else except your own life so make the most of today to do what is needed for your life. Responsibility for others and the community around you can only stem from that. If your foundation can't withstand the weight of yourself, chances are it won't withstand anything or anyone else.
