"Spread love everywhere you go: first of all in your own house. Give love to your children, to your wife or husband, to a next door neighbor... Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. Be the living expression of God's kindness; kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile, kindness in your warm greeting." -Mother Theresa
"If you judge people, you have no time to love them." -Mother Theresa
Just yesterday, i was at Cityhall early (supposed to meet for Hengyi's farewell dinner :]) so i was walking along citylink to hang out at Esplanade. And i saw this really touching sight - this mother was carrying a newborn baby in her bosom, and as she walked, she just looked down at her son, smiled and kissed him gently on his forehead. Being so young, not to mention blur and sleepy, the baby didn't really respond, but what struck me was the way she looked at her child and the contented way she smiled. Was so super touched la.. felt the presence of God and like Pst Kong's story abt the mother who sacrificed her life for her child during Easter, you really gain a deeper understanding of how great God's love is for us.
When you see creation, God's character and fingerprints are everywhere. How can you look at a field of marigold or look at the sea and not see that the God who created it is beautiful and full of love, peace and kindness? He isn't looking down at us, brow furrowed in irritation and wonder at our efforts to live out our lives.
Whenever i take some time to watch people, it's so easy to see why God loves this world. When i see elderly cleaners mopping the tabletops, i always love to see their hands. You can imagine the hard work there, spanking a naughty child, touching a grandchild's head, eeking out a living motivated by their love for their families. Especially at my workplace, whenever i see a car from the Ubi Driving Centre pass me by, i'll see the anxious faces and stiff backs of learning drivers and imagine their stress. I guess in the end, we are all trying our best.
It's the most frustrating thing in the world to love someone and not know how to express it because of fear and insecurity. I realise so many times that i still have a part of me that's emotionally shutdown. This realisation always hits me whenever a friend is down, they reject help and even though i know i should push her, i passively step aside and just watch. On the other hand, there are people you want to love, but they refuse to accept it no matter how hard you try. BUT i'm glad i'm learning now :] i feel as if each quiet time, i'm having coaching lessons from Love Himself. And it's nice to just slow down and fall in love with Him all over again. I'm not there yet, but at least i'm not where i used to be :] Jiayou!
