Have finally planned the modules i'm taking for this whole year! Hahaha.. First thing i've got to do though is ask my school administrator if it's possible to graduate early!! Based on my calculations, i can actually graduate in 2 years.. just have to see whether it's possible. Or i'll just have to readjust and have slacker semesters than i already have. HMM.. then maybe i can work! Haha..
Anyway, today was a very funny day. Had morning classes and lunch with Julian, Christina, Eileen, Melissa and Serena at Potong Pasir. So on the way home, i had to go to serangoon. But i was thinking, "might as well walk to the bus stop at the old house and take the bus since i'm here". And as i was walking to the bus stop, i thought, might as well go to the old house and check it out since i'm here. hahaha..
So it was a walk down memory lane for me today since it's the first time i've returned there for many months alone. And on the way, once i hit the stretch of road i've been walking home from school for the past 10 years i started crying abit, i'm embarrassed to admit. I was a little angry at myself for only treasuring this now when it's taken away, being like one of those people that cliched notion was meant to target. :(
But the air was fresher, things looked so much nicer and quieter of course. And i climbed over the gate (which i've also always done for the past 10 years since i lost over 3 sets of gate keys and just couldn't be bothered eventually). Needless to say, if i was crying whilst walking back, you can guess the state i was in when i walked through the driveway, the garden, and the back kitchen. I spent an hour there i think, i sat in the driveway on one of the marble chairs and just took it all in.
It's like stepping into a time capsule, it's so precious to be able to be physically there amongst things that are now in your past and are still kind of in the same state even though things are starting to fall into desrepair. Even the wooden windchimes that have been hanging there for 10 years have suddenly been bleached white by the sun in just 4 months! Remembering all the silly things we did here and in the neighbourhood and stuff.. i was talking to God about the times when i did my quiet time in the driveway at 2am, and i asked Him if it's possible for my house in heaven to be exactly like this with all the flowers and windchimes and everything in the same place. With the neighbours of course.. since it's their bamboo plants and conifer trees that also add to the memories. And i promised myself that i will buy back this house one day when i grow up!!
I really felt very bad about going home to pasir ris, because after all, it's a newer place, without so many memories. And i've spent at least 14 years of my life in the old neighbourhood and explored every single park, mama-shop, drains and canals even. :/ But i reminded myself that God is with me wherever i go, so it's ok, and at least in pasir ris, i have the beach to cycle to - my own quiet place too. And i felt much better having gone back on my own, like i was really my good old self. Even though the past few months have been great, there've been many abrupt changes in every aspect of my life. Cellgroup, my own spiritual life, my family life, school.. work... and i guess i couldn't really catch up emotionally abit. I felt emptier than usual, maybe because i'm still adjusting; still coping day-to-day without the liberty of enjoying everyday due to the familiarity of everything. But of course i've learnt to rely on God more because of that.
Think my dad's abit sentimental about the old place too.. he's not planning to sell it for a long while yet. "No hurry," he says.
Brought back a souvenir though! I found my favourite bball :]
